So you’ve set a date, booked the venue, narrowed down your guest, and found the perfect Save the Date design. What’s next? Choosing your Save the Date wording! Your Save the Date gives your guests an advanced notice that there will be a formal invitation on the way including the event details. Because of this, Save the Dates are short and easy! All you need to know are a few details before sending them out to your special guests.

What are the details you may ask? Below we have a simple breakdown of what you’ll need to include

  1. Request Language This is the opening line requesting that your guests reserve the wedding date of your special day. It can be formal or playful depending on your style and personal preference. See below for our varied examples.
  2. Date Formal invitations tend to include the day of the week in the date and for something more modern, we suggest writing it numerically.
  3. Names You can either list the bride and groom’s full name including first, middle and last name for formal weddings. For casual weddings, the first names alone can be used. Note these are simply guidelines and the choice is entirely up to you.
  4. Location Often times, only the territory and country are included i.e. Melbourne Australia. However feel free to include the full venue address.
  5. Invitation to Follow (optional) This final line can be included to remind guests that a formal invitation will arrive at a later date

Now that you understand the important details to include, we have gathered a list of formal and playful wording examples for you to choose from. We hope you can gain inspiration from our list or feel free to simply copy our samples.
